MAMASWA

The Multicultural Arts Marketing Ambassadors Strategy WA (MAMASWA)1  is an organisational development project for not for profit arts organisations which is designed to support long-term planning for audience development and organisational multicultural capacity building.

MAMASWA is being conducted in three editions over 2006 – 2008.  Each year, seven organisations will be invited to participate by the Department of Culture and the Arts.  MAMASWA  spans three main areas:

1. Professional Development course presented by the Australian Institute of Management.
2. Proposed Pilot Project supported by funding from the Department;
3. Implementation of MAMASWA learning through course and organisational engagement in the Pilot Project (3 – 12 months).

Funding is also available to organisations that have completed MAMASWA training to help resource pilot projects developed to help achieve these outcomes.  Currently, seven arts organisations are involved with a diverse range of culturally diverse arts projects: WA Symphony Orchestra, Blue Room, Barking Gecko Theatre Company, Perth International Arts Festival, Perth Theatre Trust, Spare Parts Puppet Theatre and WA Opera.

The Department, the Australia Council and UWA Business School Alliance are currently reviewing the MAMASWA training and development course. For further information or to register interest in participating in MAMASWA 2008 click here.
