Reg CribbReg has written 10 plays in the last seven years. His plays have been performed both nationally and internationally. He is one of the most awarded and produced playwrights in the country.

Plays include:

  • The Return (Seasons in Perth, Adelaide, Brisbane and Sydney, U.S.A, Canada, New Zealand, Japan, Scotland and London)
  • Last Cab to Darwin - Starring Barry Otto and Jacqui Weaver (Seasons at the The Sydney Opera House, Octagon Theatre, and national tour. Currently being performed in Japan)
  • Gulpilil (Seasons at the Adelaide International Arts Festival 2004, Brisbane International Arts Festival 2004 and Belvoir St. Theatre - Sydney)
  • Chatroom (Season at Rechabites Hall for Perth Theatre Co. and national tour in 2006)
  • Ruby’s Last Dollar (Seasons at the Sydney Opera House and Octagon Theatre)
  • Uncle Vanya  - Adaptation for Black Swan Theatre
  • Unaustralia - WAAPA graduation play (2007 Subiaco Theatre Centre)
  • Mt Ragged (2008 deckchair theatre season)
  • Krakouer - a two man show about the Krakouer Bros (2008 deckchair theatre season)

Film and Television: 

  • Last Train To Freo: The feature film adaptation of ‘The Return’ was released in 2006. It was shown at the New Zealand International Film Festival and the Melbourne International Film Festival where it was voted most popular Australian film.
  • Currently working on a film adaptation of his play Chatroom and Bran Nue Dae by Jimmy Chi.
  • Last Cab To Darwin is being adapted into a feature film through AFC funding.
  • His half hour film Grange was shown on ABC TV in 2005.
  • Currently, with Jeremy Sims, developing a new drama series for Channel 9 called the Players and a new series called The Shift with Kelly Lefever and Coral Drouyn.

Awards:

  • Last Cab To Darwin won the 2003 Qld Premiers Literary Award, 2003 Patrick White Playwrights Award, the 2003 WA Premiers Award for Best Script and the overall WA Premiers Award (first play to ever win this award) and the 2003 WA Equity Award for Best New Script. It was also shortlisted for The Victorian Premiers Literary Award, The N.S.W Premiers Literary Award and 2003 Australian Writers Guild Award.
  • The Return won the 2001 Patrick White Playwrights Award and was shortlisted for the 2001 Queensland Premiers Literary Award
  • Chatroom was shortlisted for the 2004 Patrick White Playwrights Award, the 2005 Queensland Premiers Literary Award and the 2005 WA Premiers Literary Award.
  • Gulpilil was shortlisted for the 2005 Australian Writers Guild Award
  • Ruby’s Last Dollar was nominated for the Victorian Premiers Literary Award 2006 and WA Equity Awards 2006
  • The Screenplay for Last Train To Freo was nominated for the Victorian and Queensland Premiers Literary Award 2006, winner of the WA Premiers Award 2006 and nominated for AWGIES 2006 and for ‘Best Adapted Screenplay – AFI Awards 2006.  Critics Circle Awards 2006 – Best Adapted Screenplay.  

Reg is currently under commission by the Melbourne Theatre Company, deckchair theatre and the Brisbane Festival for 2009.
