9. Art At The Heart Volunteer Assistance
Country Arts WA is keen to see as many people as possible from regional WA participate in the Regional Arts Australia national conference ‘art at the heart’ in Alice Springs this October.
As a result, Country Arts WA is offering funding to subsise the cost of attending the conference for West Australian regionally-based arts volunteers.
Funding has been made available from the Department of Local Government and Regional Development through its Western Australian Regional Initiatives Scheme (WARIS), the Mid West Development Commission, the Regional Arts Fund and Regional Arts Australia.
Who can apply for this assistance?
Any regional Western Australian working in a volunteer capacity for a community-based organisation may apply for ‘art at the heart’ volunteer assistance.
Grant monies will only be paid to a community based organisation holding an ABN, therefore all applicants must provide an auspice organisation in their application.
Applications are encouraged for more than one delegate from a single community based organisation where travel and accommodation costs will be shared amongst the group.
Applicants who can demonstrate funding or assistance through additional sources from their own community arts organisations, local government or any other available source will be looked upon favourably.
What assistance is available?
Applicants may apply for funding for the costs associated with traveling to and from Alice Springs and the conference registration fee.
Costs associated with travel may include airfares, road travel and any necessary en route accommodation.
Conference registration will be funded at the early bird rate of $480.00 including GST or $320.00 including GST for full-time students.
Country Arts WA stakeholders receive discount rates at the Seasons of Perth Hotel. New Greenpoint Album in Store
‘GREENPOINT’ is a thorough workout around their original dub/reggae reference point but somewhere along the three year journey from recording ‘REBEL YELLOW’ near the beach in Fremantle to recording ‘GREENPOINT’ at Daptone in New York City they’ve seamlessly introduced subtle but cohesive elements of jazz, soul, rock, pop, blues, ska and funk into the mix to emerge with an incredibly fresh long player that has irresistible natural charm and defies comparison with other artists.
To coincide with the release of ‘GREENPOINT’ on August 16th (through Inertia) in Australia, the Sunshine Brothers are set to tour the east coast and their hometown this August/September.

16. Regional Communities to cast their vote
Country Arts WA launched its 2009 Touring Menu this week, a publication that gives Western Australian regional communities the opportunity to vote for shows they want to see in their town next year. The annually produced publication drives Country Arts WA’s Shows on the Go regional performing arts touring program, a community-driven program which gives the power of choice to regional communities. Communities vote for their preferred shows and the most popular productions are toured through regional Western Australia by Country Arts WA.
The 2009 Touring Menu offers 39 productions across a variety of artforms, including theatre, dance, music, physical theatre, comedy and puppetry. The Menu has been sent to regional venues, arts groups, community groups and local governments in all regions of the state. When the voting is over, the Touring Menu is still a handy reference document for regional communities. The publication also includes an Artists Directory that lists artists and arts organisations available to work on projects or events in Western Australian regional communities.
To obtain a copy of the 2009 Touring Menu visit www.countryartswa.asn.au or call Country Arts WA on regional freecall 1800 811 883.
