Roadshow Answers iArts questions
The new iArts digital interactive arts initiative creates great interest amongst the screen industry.
Over 90 Western Australian digital media producers, artists and representatives of arts organisations packed the WA Art Gallery theatrette on Tuesday 10 June to find out more about the new iArts digital interactive arts initiative - an example of the great deal of interest shown from both the arts and the screen production communities since its announcement.
The ABC's Jennifer Collins and Hugh Davies were on hand at the Roadshow and networking event to answer the question "What is iArts?"
iArts is a new digital programming space hosted by ABC TV. At the Roadshow examples of interactive and online projects were presented to inspire the audience. Mash-up tools* and Kick Apps* were talked about alongside the thinking behind creating art that can engage the online audience.
In response to some of the questions raised that night, the iArts guidelines have been changed to clarify and expand the definitions of eligible practitioners. View the revised guidelines
The information session was followed by an industry "speed-dating" night, where artists, musicians, designers, and arts organisations met with digital media producers to discuss their respective practices and explore potential partnerships.
Applications for iArts funding close on July 21.
