Arts and culture in schools celebrated
Teachers, education administrators and artists are invited to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the ArtsEdge program at a free conference on Thursday July 10, 2008.
ArtsEdge is a strategic partnership between the Department of Culture and the Arts and the Department of Education and Training that promotes the value and importance of arts and culture in schools.
Director General for the Department of Culture and the Arts, Ms Allanah Lucas said the anniversary conference will celebrate the success of the ArtsEdge program and encourage schools to continue to embrace arts and culture as part of the curriculum.
“ArtsEdge is a unique partnership between the education and cultural sectors that showcases how arts and culture in schools nurtures young people’s creativity,” Ms Lucas said.
“The10th anniversary conference will feature local, national and international guest speakers and artists who will inspire and motivate participants to take arts and culture into their classrooms and school communities.
“ArtsEdge was developed as a one year pilot project in 1998 and 10 years on we are proud of the programs success and committed to continue promoting the value of arts and culture in schools.”
