Australia’s richest indigenous contemporary art awards have been launched for 2009, with nominations now being called.

Culture and Arts Minister John Day said the Art Gallery of Western Australia hoped to build on the success of the inaugural awards.

Artists working in any theme or media including paintings on bark, canvas and paper, prints, sculpture, fibre art, ceramics, glass, photography, and digital media can be nominated.

The exhibition will feature a selection of nominated works and will be on display at the Art Gallery of Western Australia from July 25, 2009.
