Seven Changes All Applicants Need To Know in 2018

U-15K TRAVEL ONLY. Applications for U-15K TRAVEL ONLY activities are no longer available. You may still apply for travel opportunities however, all budgets including those related to travel expenditure must now demonstrate a 20% income contribution.

ADDITIONAL APPLICATION QUESTION. The number of core application questions has been increased from six to seven. A new question 2 has been included in the application. “Q2. Why do you need to undertake this activity and why do you need to do it now?” In answering this question you need to focus on the strategic significance of undertaking the activity. It is particularly important if your activity includes travel out of WA. For any activity involving travel out of WA you must describe the national or international significance of the event or opportunity you plan to attend or participate in.

AUSPICING/ADMINISTERED AGREEMENTS. From 2018, all applications must be submitted in the name of the individual, group or organisation leading the activity, not the auspicing agency . Culture and the Arts (WA) will consider administered grants/auspicing agreements as side agreements and we no longer require the agreement to be submitted as part of your application. Auspicing fees are still eligible expenditure items. We recognise the value auspicing, please contact us if you require a sample Administered Grant Agreement (auspice agreement) template.

FIRST TIME APPLICANT HANDBOOK. This handbook contains information that first time applicants should be aware of when setting out to make a competitive application. It should be read in addition to the relevant program guide. For previous applicants, reading this handbook is recommended.

EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS. Previously, applications from educational institutions were subject to specific eligibility requirements. Applications were to significantly differ from the curriculum arts activity already offered and could not be restricted to the students of the institution. In 2018, the requirement that applications not be restricted to the students of the institution has been removed. However, such applications must still significantly differ from the curriculum arts activity already offered. Applications from educational institutions involving residencies by professional artists are encouraged.

FINANCIAL INFORMATION. In the Additional Notes section of your budget, clearly indicate which expenditure items you want the DLGSC to support. Make sure they are all eligible expenditure items listed in the program guide. Your request to DLGSC is the difference between your expenditure minus your income so the amounts you list in additional notes may not necessarily match the level of your request to DLGSC and it is not a requirement that they do.

SUPPORT MATERIAL. UNIT 3: IMAGES. Previously, the maximum number of images allowable for all applications was 20. It is now 10 for all programs except the Scholarship and Fellowships where it remains at 20. All existing rules regarding the methods for submitting images, images being easily identified as a single image and an image of a text document counting as text not an image, remain unchanged.
