Young People and the Arts International Scholarship

The Young People and the Arts International Scholarship is offered annually to one outstanding young artist or arts worker aged 29 years and under to pursue specialist training at an overseas institution.

Priority will be given to applicants whose chosen course of study reflects their needs as an artist or arts worker, with the course offering specialist training that is currently unavailable in Australia.

The panel is limited to awarding one Young People and the Arts International Scholarship grant per year.

Assessment Criteria

The Panel assesses applications against the assessment criteria of the Arts Grants Program. In addition applications must also demonstrate:
  • A track record and/or excellent potential as an outstanding artist or arts worker
  • How the particular course facilitates the applicant’s developmental needs
  • The reputation of the institution and how the chosen course of training differs from those available in Australia, and
  • Opportunities for international recognition and career enhancement provided by the chosen course of study.

Eligibility

In addition to the general eligibility requirements of the Arts Grants Program, applicants should be aware that:
  • The Scholarship is awarded on a once-only basis
  • Applicants must be 29 years or under at the time of the closing date
  • Successful applicants will not be eligible for any other funding from the Department for the term of the Scholarship
  • The chosen course of study must be at an accredited training institution at a secondary, tertiary or post-graduate level
  • Study must be for a minimum of one year and a maximum of four years,
  • Confirmation of acceptance into the chosen course is a condition of funding and as such will need to be provided if you are successful.

  • Applicants may also include an additional one page attachment describing the learning and skills to be gained at the completion of the course.

Funding Cap

The Scholarship is worth a total of $30,000
