Young People and the Arts Quick Response Fund
This category allows young people to respond to out-of-round opportunities where the time frame is out of their control. Quick Response assists young Western Australian artists and arts workers to attend events or undertake activities of strategic significance to the development and promotion of their arts practice at short notice. This could include invitations to participate in festivals or national and international residencies or continuing momentum achieved through an existing project or consultation with young people.
Artists or arts workers are encouraged to apply through regular funding rounds when time permits.
Support for activity that could have been submitted to a regular funding round is not a priority.
Assessment Criteria
The Panel assesses applications against the assessment criteria of the Arts Grants Program. In addition applications must also demonstrate:
- Why the activity requires immediate support rather than assessment through a regular funding round (ie. if it does not take place now, the opportunity may be lost)
- The extent to which the activity to be undertaken is of strategic significance to the development and/or profile of the applicant/s, and/or
- How the project is continuing the momentum achieved through consultation, or an existing project, with young people.
Eligibility
In addition to the general eligibility requirements of the Arts Grants Program, and those of the Young People and the Arts Program, applicants should be aware that:- Applicants may be auspiced by other individuals or organisations including parents*, and
- An applicant (or beneficiary of a joint application) may only receive one Quick Response or Artflight grant in any 12-month period, effective from the start date of the funded activity.
* Whilst the Department encourages younger applicants to seek assistance from adults in preparing an application, the Panel wants to clearly hear the ‘voice’ of the young person/people in the submission.
