Distribution

Showcasing the pre-eminent art collection in Western Australia

Distribution

This category facilitates the distribution of an existing Western Australian arts activity, event or product to new audiences intrastate, interstate and/or internationally. This includes marketing and export initiatives and the showcasing of work through festivals, trade fairs, exhibitions and similar events.

Costs associated with the public presentation and marketing of the showcase event are eligible within this category, not costs associated with the creation of the work itself. Such expenditure items may include venue hire costs, technical equipment, curatorial and rehearsal costs, artists' and consultancy fees, marketing and printing.

Selection Criteria

The Department receives many requests for international activities.  Priority will be given to applicants who demonstrate research into appropriate international markets, have developed a sustainable international strategy and articulated clearly how this specific international activity fits within the strategy.

In addition to the selection criteria of the Arts Grants Program applications to this category will be assessed against
  • potential to build audiences and professional networks within clearly defined markets
  • potential to deliver sustainable benefits to the arts practitioner/s or organisations involved
  • significant opportunities provided to enhance the reputation and profile of the arts practitioner/s, other professionals and the Western Australian arts sector.
Applications for the Young People and the Arts or Indigenous Arts Programs should also address the requirements of those Programs.

In addition to the general eligibility requirements of the Arts Grants Program, applicants considering this category should be aware that touring to three or more towns/cities within Australia is not funded. Please see Other Funding Sources.
