This program is designed to encourage designers to seek industry experience within the designer fashion sector or to collaborate with other industry professionals, locally, nationally or internationally.
In particular, this category is for projects that increase skills development in the areas of design, production, administration, management and/or marketing.
Eligible expenses include: Travel, professional fees, accommodation and living expenses.
Examples of projects that could be supported in this category:
- Emerging designers seeking industry experience with established designers and/or businesses;
- Collaborations with international manufacturers/designers;
- Collaboration on a project with another designer; or
- Collaborations with Indigenous artists.
Partnerships are encouraged as a way of achieving a transfer of existing knowledge within the designer fashion industry, creating relationships between young designers and experienced industry professionals. Both the mentor and mentee should benefit from the mentoring partnership, which should involve discussion and sharing of ideas and contacts, and may result in a project such as a new product.
