Publishing Assistance
The Publishing Assistance Program is designed to support living Western Australian artists and writers by enabling their work to be published, promoted and distributed.
Publishing for the purposes of this Program includes print publication and electronic media.
Publishers can apply for assistance to publish one or more works. Applications supporting poetry are encouraged.
Assessment Criteria
The Panel assesses applications against the assessment criteria of the Arts Grants Program. In addition, applications must also address:- Relevance to Western Australian culture
- Demonstrated viability of the publishing venture, including marketing, promotion and distribution, and
- Significance to the development of Western Australian literature and Western Australian publishing.
Eligibility
In addition to the general eligibility requirements of the Arts Grants Program, applicants should be aware that:- The budget must include the payment of appropriate fees and/or royalties to authors, editors and other artists involved
- Works of fiction and nonfiction are eligible
- The costs of translation or revision are ineligible, and
- Publishers may receive only one Publishing Assistance grant per year.

- A copy of the complete manuscript/s
- A sample of other works published by the applicant (no more than three publications), and
- An outline of the distribution and marketing strategy.
