Short-Term Artist in Residence
Organisations may apply for the costs of travel and artists fees for a minimum period of two weeks and a maximum period equal to six weeks full-time. The host organisation will cover the artist’s accommodation, materials and other expenses. Short-term artists residencies must be mutually beneficial for both the artist and host organisation. Artists may be working in any artform, other than film, television or radio.
Host organisations can include collecting organisations such as museums, galleries, libraries, historical societies, Indigenous cultural centres, language centres and keeping places, community organisations, not-for-profit organisations, private businesses, Local Government, and schools.
Where the applicant is a school, priority is given to schools with limited access to the arts.
Assessment Criteria
The Panel assesses applications against the assessment criteria of the Arts Grants Program. In addition, applications must also:- Demonstrate potential for the artist to develop their artistic practice through access to skills development or related opportunities unique to the residency
- Pay a reasonable fee to the artist. Please refer to the essential information for all applicants. An explanation of the fee to be paid should be included in your budget notes.
Eligibility
In addition to the general eligibility requirements of the Arts Grants Program, applicants should be aware that:- Applications must be signed and agreed by both parties, ie. the proposed host as well as the proposed artist in residence
- Host organisations must be based in Western Australia and the artist in residence must be Western Australian
- Tertiary institutions are not eligible to apply, and
- If the application is from a school, the applicant must describe access by the wider community to the artist’s activities.
