Julia Silk

Julia Silk’s talent for street wear and sharp eye for style developed into her first label, Frozen which took the student fashion competitions and later, the retail outlets by storm. Winning the place of overall winner of the Evening Wear category for the Perth Royal Show Fashion Awards in 1997 was just the beginning of a highly successful career in fashion design and offered her a small taste of what was yet to come.  Frozen, has been stocked in many outlets in Perth including Live Clothing, Sublime, Loot and Industria.  Along with eight other talented graduates of the WA Institute of Fashion and Textiles, Julia was given the opportunity to market and sell Frozen at their own retail space, Merge, at The Colonnade, Subiaco. Five years later Merge is still successfully operating with Frozen and now the new label, Julia Silk on its racks. This new label uses carefully selected style detail, weaving, patching, accessories and unique twists in the design process and fabric selection that contradicts boundaries and is not afraid to break the rules.
