Stephen Culley

Stephen Culley founded Desert Designs in 1985 to promote the artwork of indigenous artist Jimmy Pike.  Desert Designs was awarded the prestigious Australian Fashion Industry Award (FIA) for best new talent in 1989.  He has been the driving force behind the Desert Designs brand, spending time overseas developing contacts with licensees, retailers, manufacturers, agents, importers, and distributors and introducing and negotiating license agreements.  In 2003 he formed a partnership with Megan Salmon and started the fashion label DD by Megan Salmon. Their company DD by Megan Salmon Pty Ltd  now produces four labels: DD by Megan Salmon; Fly me to the moon, an art based tee shirt label; passionfish, a larger sizes label and a diffusion label called i. The next project to be undertaken by Stephen will be the re-launch of the desert designs brand.
