ASSESSMENT REPORT
The Indigenous Arts Panel met on the 2nd of May 2008 to assess the first round of grant applications for 2008. Applications were considered for projects commencing after the 1st July 2008.
Applications were for Project Development, Marketing and Showcasing which ranged from Festivals, Artist workshops for visual arts and music, Cultural recording, Performance Touring, Writing/ Publishing and Professional Development.
Applications received: 15
Applications approved: 9
Success rate: 60%
Total amount requested: $ 341,149
Amount approved: $159,413
Allocation rate: 46%
GENERAL COMMENTS
- The panel did not approve applications that did not demonstrate strong community support and relevant supporting documentation.
- The panel strongly recommended that two of the applicants further develop their proposals and reapply in the next round.
- All successful applications were funded to the full amount requested.
- The panel stressed that all artists indicated in the application as principle persons involved with the project, provide confirmation of their availability and also be included in budget allocation for payment of artist fees.
The Indigenous panel was comprised of panellists representing all arts forms reflected in the applications for assessment.
