Young People and the Arts Fellowships

Ms Aimee Bree Smith  $10,000
Dancer/Choreographer Aimee Smith will develop and produce Breakings, a full length solo dance production.  The two month development period will include mentor guidance from dancer-choreographer Michael Whaites; set, costume, and sound design by Bryan Woltjen and Ben Taaffe; and sound and production support from Mike Nanning.

Miss Marisa Aveling  $9,944
Writer Marisa Aveling will complete a four month internship at College Music Journal (CMJ) in New York City USA, to develop as an arts writer in the field of music.  CMJ is an organisation with International standing, supporting the independent music industry through print, online, events and marketing.  Ms Aveling’s internship will include writing for CMJ’s website, New Music Report, and CMJ New Music Monthly, and participating in other aspects of these publications such as industry communication strategies.

Mr Mark Earley  $10,000
Mr Mark Early will travel to New York City USA to study under four of the world’s leading jazz bassists, each with a distinct style and musical heritage; Drew Gress, Marco Panascia, Rueben Rogers and Ben Wolfe.  Over a three month period, Mr Earley will undertake weekly sessions with each artist, immersing himself in the jazz community of New York.  Mr Earley’s fellowship will conclude with attendance at the International Society of Bassists Convention in Pennsylvania.

Miss Jeni Sutton  $9,826

Dancer Jeni Sutton will undertake in a secondment with French dance company Cie Lanabel, participating in the daily program with Artistic Director Annabelle Bonnery.  Ms Sutton will then travel with Ms Bonnery to take classes with Carte Blanche, Norway’s premiere dance company, and attend workshops at the Bergen International Arts Festival.

Mr Claude Marcos  $10,000
Theatre designer Claude Marcos will undertake a seven week internship with British stage designer Claire Lyth on a production of Man of La Mancha for the Guildford School of Acting in the UK.  Ms Lyth is a highly respected and well-established International practitioner who has collaborated worked in the fields of dance, opera, and theatre.
