The Indigenous Arts Grant Program is open to Indigenous arts activity in all art form areas (excluding film, television and radio). The Program supports Indigenous Cultural maintenance and the professional development of Indigenous artists in WA.
It also acknowledges the rights of Indigenous communities in determining cultural priorities.
Development applications may also include distribution costs as well as costs associated with professional fees, travel, administration, documentation, materials and rental of equipment rehearsal or studio space.
Applications can be for one or more of the following:
- Creating new work in dance, music, writing, theatre, craft and/or the visual arts
- Research and development and/or production and public presentation of a new idea or a new work
- Professional and skills development of individual artists, artist collectives and/or arts workers
- Collaborations (with individuals, groups and/or organisations) to produce new work, build skills and/or do research. This can be for one art form or several art forms. It can also be between artists working with the community or artists in residence
- The revival and reinterpretation of plays, choreography and music
- The presentation of visual arts or craft retrospectives in which the work is viewed in the context of contemporary practice.
