The State Government has provided additional funding for Revelation Perth International Film Festival, one of the most significant and highest profile events in Western Australia’s screen culture calendar.
Culture and the Arts Minister John Day said the funding of $55,000 per year for three years until 2015 would allow for the festival’s continued development and ensured ongoing platforms and support for the local industry.
“Revelation is recognised as one of Australia’s five key international film festivals, annually attracting about 10,000 people and showcasing ground-breaking local, national and international films,” Mr Day said.
“ScreenWest has been a proud sponsor of the festival since 1998, and its investment has helped to support the screening of more than 60 Western Australian works as well as hundreds of Australian films and world-class international shorts, animated features and documentary films.
“Revelation has been a strong supporter of WA screen content and the annual ‘Get Your Shorts On!’ program has become a great initiative that showcases emerging WA screen practitioners.”
In 2012, Revelation Perth International Film Festival saw the development of a regional touring program, the addition of an academic component and the new festival patron, Judith Lucy.
The event, which also receives significant Government support through Lotterywest, has attracted more than 130 national and international guests, including renowned Australian film critics David Stratton and Margaret Pomeranz; actor/director Crispin Glover; and controller of ABC2, Stuart Menzies.
Revelation Perth International Film Festival runs from July 4-14, 2013. For more information please visit the Revelation website.
