A Summary of Accessibility
The Playhouse Theatre at 3 Pier Street, Perth, does not provide access for those people who use a wheelchair via the main entrance. Rather, access is through a side door directly into the main theatre and then the foyer area. The foyer is sloped and has internal steps and a narrow curved ramp to access other areas.
There is room for wheelchair seating at the front right side of the theatre. For patrons who have a hearing impairment an infra-red hearing system is available.

There are bus stops along St Georges Terrace. There is a CAT bus to this venue which stops near Pier Street.
The nearest train station is Perth which is 5-10 minutes from the venue.
There is no set down / pick up point at the venue.
Parking
There are 3 accessible parking bays in the carpark behind St Georges Cathedral. Enter off Pier Street via the laneway to the right of the Playhouse.
The car park is available for evening performances only.
The bays are narrow and even. The bays are identified by the International Symbol of Access.
People using these bays must display a current ACROD parking permit.
Approach to the Building
The path from the accessible parking bay, to the front door is wide and even. The pathway is lit for night use.
The path from the bus stops to the front door varies in distance and is wide and even. The pathway is lit for night use.
Signage to the building is clear to read during the day and at night.
Main Entrance
There are 4 steps at the main entrance. An alternative accessible entrance is available at the right hand side of the building.
Patrons are requested to approach the main entrance where a staff member will be watching out for you. There is no buzzer at the main entrance of the theatre. The staff member will then assist you into the main theatre via the side entrance. Patrons may then enter the foyer or wait in the theatre area prior to the start of the performance.
The box office is not wheelchair accessible due to the 4 steps at the front of the building. The counter itself is also not accessible.
Foyer, Corridors and General Areas
There is sufficient circulation space to move through all essential areas of this facility, except space is limited in the toilets.
Please note that the foyer area immediately exterior to the theatre is sloped and there are steps and a narrow curved ramp in situ to access other areas of the foyer.
Lifts
There is no lift available. Access to the upper floor is via an 18 step staircase. No alternative access is available. As the bar is located on the upper level, drinks may be ordered and delivered to the ground floor foyer area during interval.

Access from the foyer to the main theatre is via the main public thoroughfare to the designated seating. Please note that wheelchair access to the theatre is via the side door.

Seats in the theatre are high backed, and have arms.
There is sufficient light to see the corridors when the house lights are off.
Rows are illuminated and clear to see, however, seating numbers are at floor level and are difficult to read.

Pricing
Infra-red hearing system is accessible through out the auditorium.
Companion Card holders requiring the assistance of a carer will not be required to pay for the cost of admission for their carer when attending events presented at the venue.
Toilets
There is both a female and male wheelchair accessible toilet facility in the main foyer area.
The toilet complies with Australian Standards, except, that there is inadeqate space next to and infront of the pan. This means that some people who transfer may have difficulty accessing this toilet.
Please note that there is a lock on the main toilet door so the the entire toilet area may be locked to provide total privacy as required.
