Regional Arts and Culture
Cultural Signposts – Directions for Arts and Culture in Regional Western Australia was released by the State Government in July 2003. This policy reflects Government and community aspirations for regional arts and culture and outlines strategies to achieve these aspirations.
Over the last four years many new initiatives have been introduced and significant investments made so that people living in regional, rural and remote communities can enjoy a rich and sustainable cultural environment. Cultural Signposts – Highlights of the Journey 2003-2007 was released in October 2007 to celebrate these achievements.
The State Government acknowledges that while some destinations outlined in the Cultural Signposts policy have been reached, and others are in our sights, new challenges are always emerging on the horizon. The Department has asked its Regional Services Committee and delegates at the Regional WA State Arts Conference to comment on current priorities. Outcomes will be released for public comment early in 2008 and will help to guide the Department’s activities over the next five years.
