Appropriate cultural infrastructure and creative spaces encourage participation and engagement in culture and arts activity. These creative environments also add to a sense of place and belonging for people living throughout Western Australia, and enhance the social and economic life of the State.
The Department of Culture and the Arts is committed to improving culture and arts environments including spaces for developing and experiencing culture and arts activities. We are also committed to the development of networks and virtual environments in recognition of the geographical challenges facing Western Australians, with the aim of improving broad access and service delivery throughout Western Australia.
DCA has supported and undertaken many significant infrastructure projects and upgrades including the State Theatre Centre, Subiaco Arts Centre, and Arts House. Other valuable community and regional venues have been supported via the Arts Capital Fund and Community Culture and Arts Facilities Fund.
