Young People and the Arts Action Plan 2011 - 2012
In March 2010 the Department released Creating Value: An Arts and Culture Sector Policy Framework 2010-2014, which was the result of considerable consultation, research and planning.
Creating Value will guide the Department’s activities over the next five years, delivering on the vision for, “A Western Australian Community that is enriched by unique and transforming culture and arts experiences.”
In delivering on Creating Value’s vision, the Department is developing a series of action plans, the first of which is the Young People and the Arts Action Plan 2011- 2012, launched in March 2011.
The Action Plan will deliver a range of strategies in the four key outcome areas of Creating Value:
- Creative People
- Creative Communities
- Creative Economy
- Creative Environments.
Culture and Arts Minister John Day said the Young People and the Arts Action Plan 2011-2012 would drive new arts initiatives for West Australians aged 26 years and under.
"The plan builds on the successful work of DCA’s Creating Value policy framework which was launched last year," Mr Day said.
"In fact, the Department has a very strong track record in this area and in 1997 released the nation’s first young people and the arts policy. This new plan provides exciting opportunities for young people to interact with the arts."
