Young People

Since 1997 and the launch of the Department's first Young People and the Arts (YPA) Policy, the Department of Culture and the Arts has provided support for arts activity that nourishes creativity and engagement in young people aged 26 and under.

A new Action Plan for Young People and the Arts was launched in March 2011. It identifies a suite of new actions in the area of young people and the arts for the period 2011-2012. It aims to engender creativity and engagement in young artists and arts workers, children and young people and their support networks, and the Young People and the Arts Sector.

In addition to the support outlined below, new initiatives will arise from the Action Plan. To hear about YPA funding opportunities, other grants and new YPA initiatives, contact youngpeople@dca.wa.gov.au and request to be on the YPA mailing list.
